How much do you pay your London cleaner/ what is your rate if you are a London cleaner? Want to make sure I’m paying a good rate.

Does this mean "[I] Want to make sure I’m paying a good rate, because I do not want to short-change my cleaner and I'd like some reassurance I'm paying them enough"

...or does this mean "[I] Want to make sure I’m paying a good rate because I don't want to be paying a penny more than I have to, and less if possible".

Please advise.

LostittoBostik · 19/12/2024 21:22

£50 for 3 hours

I think it also depends on the bit of London. We're on the Home Counties/London border and £20-22 seems to be the norm.

Cigarettesandbooze · 19/12/2024 21:46

£12 per hour

£12 per hour

That's not even minimum wage when you add in holiday pay.

ihaterain2024 · 19/12/2024 21:48

15 seems to be the going rate in sw london

My cleaner was £12 an hour and she would come for two hours but that was back in 2022 before I left London. I reckon she’s probably charging closer to £18 an hour now. I used to always round up and pay her about 15/hour if i remember correctly

Dinnerplease · 19/12/2024 21:50

£18 an hour, se London.

We're London/Surrey borders and we pay £18/hr.

Finding out if there's a Molly Maid in your area will instantly tell you that independent cleaners can pretty much name their price, if such a franchise exists in your catchment area.

Molly Maid offer pretty much the best conditions that anyone who works for a domestic cleaning company could hope for, and I'm not saying it's a great job, I'm just saying they don't generally skimp on the employment rights side of thing.

That, of course, comes at a cost, and they have to charge top-dollar accordingly, with VAT to boot.

A good, reliable, independent cleaner should have no problem attracting a rate of pay that's similar to the cost of the Molly Maid service, so long as they believe in what they do and they stand their ground.

And oh yeah London has cheaper prices for cleaners I’d say - my cleaners now in a town near Manchester charge £50 for two hours so £25/hour. This was the going rate.

I say “my cleaners” but I used them just once earlier this year and will probably never use them again 😆They didn’t do such a great job.

EmpressoftheMundane · 19/12/2024 22:27

£17.5/hr. NE London

Inner London particularly is very cheap for cleaning. I don't think there is a problem in finding people to do the job. Everywhere else, it's much more difficult to get someone.

I agree. Also a town near Manchester and we pay £20 / hour.
It used to be £15 / hour just after Covid but the rates have gone up now.

multivac · 19/12/2024 23:09

N. Essex here - £20 ph.

Tinytigertail · 19/12/2024 23:12

North London, we pay £18 p/h

Oceangreyscale · 19/12/2024 23:32

£13/hr, inner London. Sounds like maybe I should pay more although I do also pay for holidays.
