A&E? - Unwell child

I come here because my DH and I don't seem to agree and he knew something I didn't tell the GP, so I don't know if it changed much.

I had the flu. Our 5yo caught it and has been having high fevers since Friday.
The fever has stopped (or so it seems).

On Saturday he had a pepperami, a mini muffin and some grapes. He also had some milk and juice. Poorly but normal. He also had a loose poo.

He vomited yesterday morning, and since then he has been able to hold anything to drink. He did eat 2 strawberries.

This morning he's already vomited like 3/4 times and has been able to hold any fluids. Obviously no food and has been asleep the whole time.

Now, I told the GP he hadn't had a wee since Saturday, but apparently he had one yesterday and I forgot to mention the strawberries.

He does seem to get more lethargic as time goes by.

I would take him to A&E ASAP, whereas my DH is if the idea to see if he drinks anything during the day, then we're fine. Otherwise we'd need to take him in the evening.

Well done op it's agonising wondering what to do for the best but with dc they will triage him they will do his vitals etc you are not wasting anyone's time

I agree over pendant about a wee.
Hopefully he makes a good recovery soon

I have three days of DD being unable to keep anything down, bringing up fluids immediately when she was little. GP wouldn't see her, but she was ok - hope this is the case for your DS.

Well the update is one that I don't anyone would expect....

As I was getting ready to take him, my DH arrived, and our DS "magically" woke up and started joking about chicken. He went from 0.to about 50/60 instantly.

I left to take my DD to the GP (unrelated issue) and when I came back my son was adamant he wanted a happy meal.

So we got him one, fearing it could be terrible for his stomach. But no, he ate the whole thing and hasn't really had any vomit nor fever ever since.

Right around 8/9 last night if say he was back to his old self.

Good news!

@Usedphone So pleased he's better. That's kids for you. Number of times I've had children in to see me (as a GP) and the history was lethargic and "burning up" and the child bounces round the consulting room with the mum apologising for wasting my time. I'd rather see a well child than miss a sick one so always sympathised with the parent. My daughter did this too when she was small....I was mortified

The nativity question remains but that's a topic for a separate thread!

Phew! He sounded really poorly but glad he's bounced back! 111 once sent DD to A and E and by the time we got there she was fine - kids eh??
