Anyone know how send gifts to EU without recipient paying customs? (Fucking Brexit)

I want to send a gift to Estonia - mostly chocolates, the value of the gift is about £40 or so.

I'm trying to work out how to send it without the recepient having to pay a fee and I'm going round in circles!

Does anyone know how to do this? Is it even still possible?

Thanks :)

What if I ordered from the German Amazon website (which delivers to Estonia) - would that get round the issue as the parcel is starting from inside the EU?

Yup!

Yes that's a good idea. I agree with you about Brexit. Absolute fucking disaster. The most illthoughtout thing any government has ever done.

Wow, that's expensive! It's meant to be a box of UK treats e.g. chocolates you can get here.

£18 for 3 Terry's chocolate oranges on German Amazon!
£7 for some M&S cola gums!

Found some Baileys chocolate at a decent price though, so it's not ALL extortionate - just most of it!

Any suggestions for UK brands for UK food treats I might find on German Amazon much appreciated :)

I can't get it to check out, it's stuck on "select quantities" but I have selected quantities <sigh>

Fucking Brexit, this is all such a palavar.

I can't imagine how many small businesses are suffering because of this nonsense. And for what?

Oh yeah, I remember, my kids have a navy passport now, that makes is all worth it! No right to live and work in the EU, but never mind, I expect they'll feel so proud of the navy-ness of their passports they won't even notice.
And we "took our country back" apparently, whatever the fuck that means. Hmm

yeah, since Brexit we no longer send or receive parcels to or from Britain.

ETA: IME Estonian chocolate is fabulous, they have no need of Chocolate Oranges, if that makes you feel better?

You would need to check Estonia's import rules, but many countries have a small 'gift allowance' of about €35, which allows small gifts to be exchanged between individuals without paying the charges. You'd need to send it yourself rather than ordering online. Plan B (ordering from another EU country) works too though - you pay the company and they effectively pay the charges on your behalf (for sales up to €150). Always check the website rules though!

Edited

It's a bit of a cultural exchange - they send us Estonian treats and we send them UK ones. Or, we used to.

They got stung with charges last year, so trying to avoid that this year.

Do you know how we do this? If I go in the post office, should they know? Thanks :)

From a quick Google and a bit of Google translating, it looks like they will have to pay 22% vat on any gift, unfortunately.

With the cost of british chocolate in the EU, you might be better sending a parcel from here and bunging €10 for the charges.

(It was once cheaper for me to fly with a parcel as hand luggage than it was to send it in the post if you fancy a day trip to Estonia!)

I live in Portugal and use Amazon.es more than Amazon.de - they do have slightly different products and pricing.
