How old where they when they started?

dd is 11 and is now wanting to stop wearing her glasses. She is squeamish about wearing contact lenses though

@Jesslequest - snap. My son who is 13 wears these too and has been since year 7. He has short sightedness of
-3.25. They are amazing. And it has made all the difference. And he doesn’t have to worry about them falling out at school.

It's not uncommon to fit ages 5+ now, especially given myopia control is such a big thing. The youngest I ever did was 6.
Not to mention, kids are FAR more compliant and sensible than adults.

DD is 9 and desperate for contact lenses. I think she's too young. We have agreed she can try it at the end of year 6 and if she can show she can manage them through the summer holidays she can start secondary school using them.

I was about 12 when I started wearing them. I’m 44 now and have Sjögren’s syndrome which means I can’t wear them anymore and I’m absolutely gutted about it as I’m -9.50 with astigmatism in both eyes and apart from anything else my field of vision was so much better in contacts. I remember the first time I put contacts in and it was a true “wow” moment - I’d been wearing glasses since I was about 4 and I remember thinking this must be what it’s like not to need glasses; I kept moving my eyes around to see everything without the frame of the glasses in the way. Amazing things. Never had any issues with caring for them etc.

DS1 tried at about 12, and couldn't get them in / out to vision express's satisfaction.
Tried again a year later, and now wears them around 3 days a week - PE days plus occasional extras. Glasses are still more prominent tho.

Both my DC started wearing MiSight myopia management lenses part way through year six so around 10 /11.
They are Daily disposables absolutely no issues whatsoever though did need some help with putting them in for a little while.

DH and I are both long standing lens wearers too so maybe that helped it seem normal / easy.

It just expensive paying for 3 x contact lenses every month!
