I have a Tefal one of each, you can't go wrong with them, mine are both over 15 years old and work perfectly still, love a good raclette!! 😃

@MouseKeys thank you! I thought it may brighten up Xmas winter dining

Definitely the way forward, we're doing raclette with friends on NYE 🥳

We always do Raclette on Christmas eve. Nice and easy, not lots of prep and gets everyone round the table.

Most raclette machines you can also use to make pancakes. Get one with 8 paddles rather than 6, if you have the choice.

I was given a cast iron fondue as a wedding present 30 years ago. All the plates and accessories.
Used it three times (once each for cheese, oil and chocolate) but the pot has been great for induction simmering.
The raclette I bought myself has been used a bit more as it has novelty value. Who doesn’t like greasy cheese and charcuterie over potatoes?! And pancakes to follow? You’d need to have spent the day skiing.

I think it’s basically too hot for everybody to gather round at the table with all the additional plates. And the extension cord for the electric raclette.

We’ve got a Tefal Raclette machine (€45 in Darty) and a Giles & Posner one (£40 on Amazon) Both essentially the same, we don’t have anything fancy like a stone top (these can be a pain to clean). They both work equally well, heat up quickly and are really easy to clean. We find a Raclette night fun and sociable. We were introduced to Raclette by friends in France who just do cheese, charcuterie, boiled potatoes and cornichons. It’s too heavy for us that way so we do lots of green salad, fresh veggies that you can grill with the cheese or to eat raw, and nice pickles. We have a fondue set somewhere but we never use it!

I’ve got a raclette and I’ve got a fondue set. Both brilliant. Raclette (Andrew James I think) is very easy to clean. Fondue set (Artesa hammered copper) is not, but it’s really pretty.

Bought one for our son for Christmas. He loves cooking and entertaining. Years ago he had a Belgian house mate at university who taught him how to use theirs. We used to have one great fun for entertaining. You need sharp knives for cutting things thin

I have this stone grill one, and it's been fab! amzn.eu/d/0U8qjQL

Yay that's the one we bought our son 💃💃

Raclette is SO good. We had a Tefal one, which lasted years, no issues at all.

Top tips; Waitrose sell raclette cheese, and (wanker alert) quail eggs, which are epic fried on the hot plate.
