Would this have caused my sore knees?

Two weeks ago I got delayed and had to run for a train, so running on and off over 10 minutes. A few days later, I felt I'd strained my groin but after about 4 or 5 days this settled down. Now this week I've 2 sore knees - one very sore at times but other less so, and not all the time.

I walk a lot and regularly but never run, so would the short run have affected my knees like this?

Also, is ice or heat best to apply?

I think it’s possible that you have caused some muscle strain/tightness somewhere, calves/hamstrings would be my guess because you mentioned a groin strain. And that tightness is causing the knee pain by pulling everything out of alignment. Gentle leg/pelvis/lower back stretches and some ibuprofen/ice will likely sort it. Knee pain can actually linger a bit after the actual event so I wouldn’t necessarily panic if it’s still a bit sore in a week or two more.

Thanks. That makes sense. Groin strain disappeared and then knee pain started
