Lifestyle changes with surprising benefits?

I've always been rubbish at drinking water but a couple of weeks ago started aiming for 1.2 litres a day (motivated by an app). In that time there have been 2 days when I didn't drink any in the morning, and both times I fell asleep after my lunch! I'm sure I've read along those lines before but experiencing it makes it so much more believable.

Another one is that weight training when I wake up makes me much more able to handle my temper getting the kids out of the house.

Anyone have any others?

Not drinking. Not only do you save money, but you feel so much better and after a while, you can see it in your skin and face too.

Not drinking and smoking (hand in hand actions for me quite literally) and getting a dog - instantly have to go out every day.

Reformer pilates stopped me needing an orthotic shoe insert in one session.

A litre of water before doing anything else in the morning. It makes a huge difference.

Definitely getting a dog. I was always pretty active but I'd never have walked 2 miles every morning in all weathers all through the winter. I've seen more sunrises in the last year than in my whole life I think!

Cutting out all processed foods, including dairy and gluten. It sounds awful yes. The first two weeks are tough. But after two weeks, you just feel like a new person. Boundless energy. No cravings. You feel like you've been given extra hours in the day. It's genuinely life changing. (Annoyingly I reintroduced all those foods and now I feel crap again!)

Taking vitamin pills and fish oils and additional vit D - suddenly have hard nails and very good skin!! Even at 62

Ooh I like this thread. Watching for tips but don’t have anything to offer really. Pleased we got a dog in the summer though - hoping he can manage some nice long walks soon which I’m hoping will help get my weight down a bit.

You can go for daily walks without having the responsibility of a dog Grin If exercise is the only reason for getting one.

For me it was taking up running. My life has changed massively since I did that.

Yes agree with the compulsory walks - we don't have a dog but I noticed a big difference in my postnatal mental health with DC2, as I was forced to get out 2x a day for DC1's nursery/school run, whereas with DC1 I'd often not leave the house all day as it felt so difficult. Felt way more human having been forced to get out of the house.
