How to get rid of crampy on off diarrhea?

For just over 24 hours I’ve had stomach cramps and diarrhea, feeling as if constipated but with gurgling guts then sudden urges to go to the toilet where yellow diarrhea flies out then stops suddenly but with a sensation that it’s not finished so then continue straining for 5 minutes and then a couple more smaller bouts of diarrhea dribble out. Happens 2 or 3 times in succession then a couple of hours’ break. It’s painful and also annoying - I had a physio session this afternoon and was so worried my guts would explode.

Last night was woken by awful chest pain, kept awake from 1am to 5am with it.

Am on opiate painkillers following surgery, plus ketaprofen to reduce inflammation, and Pantaprazole before ketaprofen to protect stomach.

Haven’t eaten since yesterday morning (piece of baguette, toasted) but have drunk black coffee and a bit of water.

DH and DC are all fine and we all ate the same food on Monday and Tuesday.

How can I stop the horrid cramps and diarrhea, please?

Is there any chance the opiates have caused constipation, a potential fecal impaction and the diarrhea is actually overflow? Especially if you 'feel constipated' and are having to strain to pass loose stool and feeling like the movement is incomplete - these are all signs of a fecal impaction and opiates are known constipater's (might have made that word up)

With the combination of drugs you are on you need to speak to a medic about what is safe/isn't safe to take.

Thank you both

Agree that with that combo you should be seeking actual medical advice. But it would be prudent to switch the black coffee for water, as caffeine is not gentle on upset guts.

yep stop the coffee and if you can reduce the opiates that may help - get some advice from hospital

Thanks again.
