My Christmas tree is muddy. What can I do?

We purchased a Christmas tree yesterday during the awful storm. Brought it home and cut the mesh off of and left it to dry overnight.

I went to string the lights on it today and have noticed it's absolutely covered in mud. Every branch from the bottom to nearly the top of the front facing part of the tree.

Has this happened to anyone else? What's my best option to get rid of the mud? It's so massive it will be hard to get through the house and outside to hose off, but I'm not sure if this is my only option.

I've not checked the back of the tree, but it's a bit of an odd shape and not what I'd want to have as the front of the tree.

Any ideas how I can get rid of the mud so I can start to decorate it?

A soft cloth, a bowl of water, and go slow and careful. Maybe let it dry a couple of days first and see if the worst can be picked/knocked off and hoovered up.

I had this year but didn't notice until it was already in its location in its stand. I wiped it down as best I could. Or you could hose it, or just leave it outside until next weekend and hope it gets rained on.

This is my issue as well. It's already in stood in its place in the stand. So taking it out of the house to hose it down is going to be tricky.

Good idea about the cloth. I did think about trying to knock it off and hoover it, but the kids it would make would be such a pain.

The tree is so dense and wide. I'm worried about how long the whole process would take 🫤

Cover it all up with tinsel! Lots of shiny stuff and don’t tell anyone it’s muddy!

The mud isn't all that noticeable from more than a metre away. It's more just an issue of myself, the lights and my decorations getting incredibly dirty while decorating it. I also don't think I can bring myself to have tinsel on my tree. Sorry, but it's just not my cup of tea.

I've just tried to go in and knock some off and hoover the branches, but it's such a fine silt that covers each individual needle and the inner branch itself that getting rid of the mud is going to be a real pain in the ass.
