Boxing Day Food Ideas

I usually see great ideas for catering on here so wondering if you can give me some Boxing Day ideas. We have 14 people coming to ours for Boxing Day including 3 vegetarians and 5 kids ranging from age 2 to 15. We aren’t at home for Christmas lunch so can’t do the traditional
Boxing Day leftovers. There will not be room
for everyone to sit around the table so ideally something buffet style but everyone will be expecting a full meal. I was thinking possibly a cooked ham, cheese, baguettes etc but not sure if that’s ok for the vegetarians? Help please!

Thank you. I like that idea for the veggies. I have never done a cauliflower steak. 3 of the non veggies are over 70 so I don’t think will go for it so would need a few options. What would you serve with the cauliflower steak?

What about a fritatta as the vegetarian option? Couple of salad options to go with either choice.

If you have leftover turkey, Turkey Tonnato is amazing. It sounds weird on paper but it's totally great in reality. I'm not even a turkey fan but I cook one every year JUST to do this. Serve with green salad and crusty bread or just as part of a buffet. https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/turkey/turkey-tonnato/

I had a really nice Christmas Carbonara the other day with pan friend sprouts in it. iIt was lovely. Obvs you could leave out the bacon and maybe add walnuts for the veggies but I commented at the time that it would make a nice boxing day option .

What about fajitas ? They always go down well and you could have veggie versions of breaded chicken or quorn or whatever

salads, salsa, grated cheese, corn on the cob, potato wedges etc

A side of salmon is always nice boxing day, warm potato salad, veg side dishes or salads to go with it. Veggie options could be a fritatta or home made quiche/tart that would go well with the same sides. I love a caramelised onion and goats cheese quiche, nice and deep made with cream not just milk, so it feels really indulgent

PIL often do a whole side of salmon with cucumber "scales" which is quite spectacular.

Lasagne

Freeze them and cook on the day. Delia's roasted vegetable lasagne is lovely.

Garlic bread.

Salad.

Can be eaten in bowls with just a fork if need be.

Tiramisu or ice cream (vienneta!) for pudding.

We have a bbq on Boxing Day! Come rain or shine! Steak, sausages, garlic bread, baked potatoes. It’s a lovely change from the Christmas stodge

I thought most people did a Boxing Day buffet with cold cuts of turkey and we have gammon I cooked on Xmas Eve and salad, a cheese board and bread. The vegetarians could have a quiche in stead of cold cuts and some snacks Xmas treats.

Thanks everyone. Some great ideas. I know leftover turkey is the obvious choice but we won’t have any as are going to my mum’s for Christmas lunch! I think given the wide range of ages and the veggies, that fajitas or lasagnas will probably be the biggest crowd pleasers here, with salads/breads etc but all your ideas sound delicious!

We always have leftover turkey, sausages, chestnut stuffing with home cooked ham, salad, baked potatoes, chutney etc. usually followed by the Christmas pudding nobody ate on Christmas Day and something like a trifle. If I had vegetarians I would supplement it with some nice cheeses (because we always have nice cheeses - otherwise known as baby cheesus - in the evening on Christmas Day) and maybe something like a frittata, or a nut roast thing that is nice cold if there is such a thing. I'm all for making life easy!
