How can I pay for my shopping ( NOT begging)

I have NC for this as am embarrassed.
I went supermarket shopping a few days ago. I used self checkout, was overcharged on a ‘deal’ so tapped my card and thought I’d have to see customer services on way out. ( it’s not the first time I’ve been overcharged in this supermarket) Just then a member of staff came by and I asked her to check why I hadn’t got the offer. She had a brief look then said I’d have to go to customer services as I might have picked up the wrong item, then walked off.
The queue at customer services was long with only one member of staff.
I helped my friend back to the car, intending to go back in, but then I had a bit of a huff and decided I would live with the overcharge this time, and shop elsewhere in future.
This morning I was having a bit of a moan to my sister who worked out the amount overcharged to be about £7, which was irritating because the ‘meal deal’ food hadn’t been great.
She asked me if the rest was charged correctly, but I couldn’t find my receipt. I have now checked my bank account and no payment has been taken and none is showing as pending.
I am mortified. I definitely tapped my card but clearly didn’t check that the payment had gone through, so I effectively shoplifted around £40 worth of items.
Will the shop be able to find the transaction via my loyalty card and take payment over the phone? I’ve already used some things and no longer have the packaging, so can’t remember everything I had.
I have tried phoning the local number and it’s just ringing out. I am willing to go back to the supermarket but not in today’s weather as I live rurally around 15 miles away, and advice is not to drive unless vital.
I don’t care at this stage that the full payment is more than it should be I just need to put this right ASAP. Can anyone suggest how?
Please don’t tell me to just forget about it as I can’t do that.

It may have been a pin check if you tried to pay via contactless, there's often a slight delay and you may not have realised when you tapped your card, it's easily done.
I work on tills ( not supermarket) and often the customer has popped the card away before the till asks them to enter their card and pin.
So it's very likely that this has happened and if you feel worried simply pop back to store to sort out, you won't get in trouble just possibly asked to pay.
I suspect they do keep a record but would only ban/report those who are repeat offenders ie those who do it deliberately!

Was it a Tesco store?

It was Morrisons. I went there because my friend needed something from there. It would never be my first choice of store because at least in that branch their standards of customer service are lacking. It’s not the first time a ‘meal deal’ offer has failed - even though I double checked each part.

How did your sister work out the exact overpayment without checking the reciept?

BTW; when you’re using self checkout and the price is wrong, you don’t pay and then go to customer services for a refund. You push the assistance button at the self checkout or just wave the staff member over. Why are you doing it such an odd way?

There were only 4 items in the meal deal offer, and I could remember them. She checked the prices online and took off the deal price.

If I had been in Tesco or Sainsbury I would have got a member of staff to help at the time, but at this branch of Morrisons the staff are rarely helpful, hence the one I did manage to speak to walking off and telling me to go to customer services.

I know how you feel op recently I accidentally stole a bottle of milkshake. My little one was holding it and then to make matters worse I RAN out of the shop to catch my bus 😂 didn't realise untill I was on the bus so I called them, and explained and asked if I could pay over the phone , they said not to worry! I felt bad but also with people filming people so much these days I was worried I'd end up on the local Facebook group "awful mother with her pram runs from co op stealing a yahoo" 🙈😂

Only ask as with tesco scan as you shop or self checkout you can go though last transactions /access receipts through scan of clubcard. Wonder if morrisons has similar system.

Let it go. They won’t be able to track you through any means and it’ll be written off through waste margins. You won’t be struck down by a thunderbolt of cosmic judgment either. One of those things

Edited

The shop I work looks on CCTV at customers who don't pay for shopping. We track them to their car and the number plate is passed to the police for them to contact the person.

Thank you for this. I don’t know how sophisticated Morrison’s system is but I will go into the shop as soon as I can and ask if they can do this. I hope they will have a record even though I didn’t actually pay so didn’t complete the transaction.

Ring customer service and I would also put it right as I don't believe in stealing even from big supermarkets.
