Air fryers- what's the smallest but best?

Dh is keen. I'm not really but thought I'd get home one for Christmas as then I get to control how big it is. Would like small as possible, mostly going to be used for one or two and I don't want to lose too much worktop space to it. But as exciting and multifunctional as possible too.

Any suggestions?

Every person i know has up graded to a larger model. This is because they use it much more than they thought. When choosing look at capacity as well as size. The larger models don’t always provide the most efficient use of space. Measure the work space to see how big a footprint you could buy.

We now use our oven for storage as we have not used it more than 3 times since we got ours 3 years ago.

I never thought I’d be an air fryer person but I am! Love it. Great purchase and I use it at least 5 days a week. I got this: https://www.dunelm.com/product/dunelm-4l-manual-air-fryer-1000218090?defaultSkuId=30828422

I cook for one, tonight was a chicken breast and jacket potato, plenty of room for another jacket if needed, another breast would be a squeeze but doable if I’d been cooking for two.
it’s the Goodmans brand but at a lower price.

There’s a very good ninja which weights 5 kilos, got one for cheap in the sales

Pro/max pro?

MiseryIn · 07/12/2024 19:25

The single ninja is great. I've had a smaller salter one and it sort of did the job but I'd go straight for the ninja.
I think if the do a stacked one now too.

Autumnlife · 07/12/2024 23:05

I’ve got a ninja air fryer it’s great and we also bought the 12in 1 on a Black Friday deal. I didn’t want one at first but friends were raving on about them so I’d say go for it you won’t regret it.

whenemmafallsinlove · 08/12/2024 01:35

Really helpful thanks, defo not getting a large one. We have a beautiful Neff oven I love. This is mostly for mid week lunch and dinner for one or two at most

ok this isn’t an air fryer OP but my Remoska, bought from Lakeland, though you can get on eBay, is excellent and more versatile than an air fryer

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 08/12/2024 01:43

DC2 keeps going on about one. I’m not keen. I’ve got a neff combi microwave and can’t see the point of an airfryer in my kitchen either OP when that oven is smaller than the others, quick to heat up and I can cook a baked potato on combi setting in six minutes without warming it up.

I’ve bought them this one.

KittenPause · 08/12/2024 05:05

You will regret buying the smallest possible

You've missed the Black Friday offers

I decided to buy a Ninja pro 4.7 L and I think it's the perfect size and really easy to clean

Any smaller is pointless really because once you start using one you realise just how useful and handy they are

The Tefal ones look good too and Cosori

KittenPause · 08/12/2024 05:09

This AF100 one is small but if you're cooking for 2 it's too small

Mine is the AF400 which doesn't take up much room at all

Mine is the AF140 not 400

Hayley1256 · 08/12/2024 05:20

No point getting a smaller one as you won't be able to fir anything in it. My mum has a small one and can only for a small portion of potatoes in it

crockofshite · 08/12/2024 05:35

Gourmia from Costco, cost about £45 earlier this year, newer model is about £55.

Single drawer is perfect for us 2, use it daily. Got rid of the toaster to make room as the air fryer makes toast anyway.

MikeRafone · 08/12/2024 05:39

I have the ninja single and it’s great
my electric bill is less due to less oven use

Catsinaflat · 08/12/2024 06:29

I wasn't interested at all and my dh was. Eventually I gave in and he bought the Ninja single AF140. Since that day I have probably used the oven twice. We just upgraded to a ninja double stack. I really like it. It is slimmer but taller and it synchronises the cooking time of each drawer. So if you have 20 mins @ 180 in one and 14 mins @ 200 in the other for example it will hold one drawer until the exact moment it needs to start. I love it!

IBlameTheDog · 08/12/2024 07:02

I have the Ninja 3.5l one - same as poster above.

It's brilliant but i wish I'd got a bigger one and there's only my DD and me. I've bought my DS a dual drawer one for Christmas with different sized drawers. I'm a bit tempted to keep it and give him my old one 😆

IBlameTheDog · 08/12/2024 07:04

I quite fancy this one. Bigger than mine but doesn't take up too much worktop space

Air fryers- what's the smallest but best?
Isabelle70 · 08/12/2024 07:25

I had one of the Tefal spinning ones and swapped to the Ninja this summer. Best purchase I have made, I would certainly go for the Ninja they have lots of sizes.

Bjorkdidit · 08/12/2024 07:32

We have the cheap Costco one referred to above, and agree that it's revolutionary/life changing etc.

But I'm now willing it to break because they now have this one, which looks far more practical, and could probably completely replace an oven if you're cooking for 1-2 people.

https://www.costco.co.uk/Appliances/Small-Kitchen-Appliances/Cooking-Specialty/Instant-13L-Gourmet-Air-Fryer-Oven/p/9765

So I'd agree that getting the physically smallest one you can isn't necessarily the way to go.

FreddieStone · 08/12/2024 07:46

I really want the ninja stacked air fryer. What a cool and exciting person I am 😂

Be aware that the height of the dual air fryer is quite high with not much space between bottom of the kitchen cupboards. So a double stack would need to be on a work surface without a cupboard above so the heat can disperse from the air fryer vents because it won’t fit. Also if storing away when not in use it may not fit inside a cupboard easily.

pippitypoppitypoo · 08/12/2024 08:08

I got this 5.7L instant pot one for my mum - it's on sale at curry's tinyurl.com/4km7y7x6 . Its capacity is fine for 2 people.

"You will regret buying the smallest possible..."

No regrets from me, I bought the smallest Ninja a couple of years ago and it's great, exactly what we need. Teens use it for pizza (google told them how to easily divide large frozen pizza in half so will fit in AF), chicken breasts, chips etc.
Ocado sells lovely free range half chicken, plenty for 2 people which cooks perfectly.

ThirdStorm · 08/12/2024 08:17

That Ninja double stack looks like a beast!!

I’m another who doesn’t regret a small one, I regularly only cook for one!

Thanks for the advice! I would never pack it away we use the air fryer so much 😂 Great advice about the cupboards, I always think about space for the back but not the top 😊
