my 14 year old daughter is a bit obsessed with the idea of a summer at an American summer camp. I'm open to the idea, but don't know anything about them, cost, where to go, if foreign kids can go etc

any experiences/advice?

Camp Crusoe in Norfolk have decent prices - I'm looking at this one for my DD for a week next year

Watching with interest. I'm planning on letting my DS17 go to a photography course/camp in the US next summer. We haven't booked yet, but hes been where im sending him, and knows his way around. Yes, it will be hideously expensive but he has struggled with school, asd etc. He'd love to hone his skills in photography as well as spend time in the US. Plus 3 weeks of 'respite' for me. Win- win!!

my kids go on 2 x week long summer camps each year and this year it was in Europe.

the UK summer camps cost between £150 and £350 and the European one was £600

I think I had kinda thought it wouldn't be hugely expensive because all American kids use them. but I realise now, my idea that all American kids go to them, comes entirely from watching American films, so probably not true at all. she is probably going to have to wait until she can go there to work in that case!

Definitely been watching too many movies. I live in the US and I don’t know anyone from my family, friends or co-workers who went to one, or sent their children to one.
