Does this look like a verruca please? I have googled and it talks about black dots beneath the skin but I can’t see any so I’m not sure. Thank you.

From the picture it looks more like a wart then a verruca x

It's a wart, or it looks like one. I've had some on my toes.
Treat them as verrucas.

They're the same thing!

Does it look like a cauliflower after a bath or shower? Typical warty verruca appearance

BoysenBerry1 · 06/12/2024 20:15

Oh never seen one before! From a quick google it looks as if treatments could take 3 months to possibly work and even then they may not work. Do you just leave them then? It’s on a 9 year olds foot. Thank you.

get a small clean cheap emery board and sand the surface. cut off the used bit
of emery board and bin it. surround the wart with a very thin layer of petroleum jelly.
Using a clean cotton bud dab tea tree oil on the wart. (cut off and bin the used bit)
wash your hands.
Do this every day until it goes

I can't promise it will work but mine went

Verruca Pedis is a wart on the feet .

Best way to tell -
a Verruca is painful if you press its sides ( corns if you press directly on them)
if you wet the skin to see it better you might see tiny black spots- blood vessels
If you look at the lines on the skin ( similar to fingerprints whorls) the verruca doesn;t have them, the virus causes the growth to push up through the layers .

Bazuka gel does the trick if she's not got any contra-indications . Apply , let it dry , tell her not to pick it .

Perfect description, it’s also worth noting that if she does use bazuca gel to apply a small amount of Vaseline around the healthy area of the skin to help protect the area.

Podiatrist recommended to me for my DD to cover with duck tape to cut off the light and air to kill the virus. Nothing else had worked but this treatment really did! Added bonus was it helped the pain she felt when walked on it so was compliant with it as a treatment method.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/12/2024 22:26

Duck Tape does work , it mascerates the skin so every time you tear it off a bit of the verruca tissue comes with it . It's a slow process but it does work .
Banana skin ( the fleshy side to the skin) works too , there's an enyzyme that breaks down the skin, you cut a bit of banana skin , apply at night and put some duct tape over .
It's a bit messy and I think ( as with the duck tape ) people lose the will before it has a chance ,
Your GP might offer treatment (cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen) can be a bit painful , it creates a blister that lifts the verruca tissue .

Some people are resistant to treatment , some will spontaneously just resolve it with their body's immunity .

@70isaLimitNotaTarget From memory (although going back about 5/6 years now) we just left DD’s on for the ‘lack of air and light’ effect and that worked in and of itself.

I have just managed to get rid of one in 3 weeks. Was grim but I was persistent.
