Interview advice for NHS HCA post

For my daughter, she's got an interview on Saturday for a job as a HCA/HCSW at the local hospital. I'm just trying to get her an idea of what questions she could potentially be asked... She's having a good look at the hospital's trust values etc.... I'm doing everything to help her get prepared, getting a job there would hopefully be life changing for her as it could potentially offer a pathway to better things - she's had a tough few years, she really deserves a break!!

Tell us about your past experience.
Why are you interested in this role?
Tell us about a time you made a difference.
What do you think makes a good team member?
Read about privacy and dignity
Be aware of infection prevention and control...bare below the elbows, handwashing, PPE etc.
Be aware of own limitations, dont accept jobs that are out of your scope of practice and be prepared to attend training.
Read about confidentiality
There will probably be scenario questions and the most important answer is to reassure the patient, report to a qualified nurse and document what happened.

Everything that your DD needs to read will be in the job description. But generally being a friendly, warm and open person will win the job. I hope that it goes well for her.

Thank you so much for taking the time to type that out, I'll send it to her!

Good advice above. I did this job in a couple different health boards at uni and wanted to add that they always asked about the particular health board values. Just look this up online and it’s usually things like ‘respect, person centred care, compassion’ etc. Best of luck to your daughter

There are lots of YouTube and tik tok's that she can look at from people who have attended interviews.

My DD used some of these when she applied.
