Anyone else just dying with anxiety

I've had mine forever, ocd since a child, then when I had kids it got worse and worse. 10 months post partum, taking 20mg escitalopram which should be helping really. I'm on my period so I know that don't help but usually the middle swings anxiety etc is before my period, this time I was a week late and it seems like the pmt is too!!
I take mounjaro currently aswell and starting to wonder if that's affecting my mood aswell.

I just want a new brain !! Does anyone else feel that way sometimes ? I wish I didn't care about anything like some people seem to. I'm sick of worrying all the time, intrusive thoughts, health anxiety, just general worrying !! I feel on the verge of a panic attack today and I can't even tell you why!!

I definitely relate to wanting a new brain or feeling that the world is unfair because how do some of us end up with debilitating mental health issues and some people seemingly float along with minimal issues.

has it always got worse before your period?
as in its usually 'normal' before and then you have a week/two weeks before youre on that are unbearable?

Hi OP, I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I completely understand this as I have horrific health anxiety and have done since DD5 was born. I've had therapy and medication, but worry about my health all the time. I've actually had biopsy results this morning over the phone from the nurse who said everything has come back clear and a letter will be on its way to me - my NHS app has pinged to say there's a notification, and I'm suspecting it's my results, but I haven't opened the app and I'm just going to delete it as I feel that it'll be a huge trigger for me.

Do you have anyone you can speak to IRL?

That's how I feel, people like my mom, nothing seems to faze her, or she just doesn't give a shit ! I wish I could be that way... maybe I just care more ? I don't know.
No I've always been this way, I've always been very sensitive and things get to me. It does seem to be worse lately though, hence me wondering if the mounjaro has something to do with it !

I know what you're saying, even though you've been told everything is fine, it doesn't matter because it's that irrational side of your brain telling you otherwise ! Or you will finally accept that, and then move onto something else to worry about...

I've done cbt loads of times, it never works for me. When the therapist is explaining how anxiolytic works etc it makes so much sense, but I still can't remember that when I'm in the throes of it. It's exhausting isn't it. I do have my husband but I worry I bore him with it all lol see more worrying !! 🙄🙄

its not a listed side effect of mounjaro. it can cause hypersensitivity but im unsure if thats physical or mental.
its not listed as having adverse interactions with escitalopram. (using UK information)
I think it can alter your hormones though and hormone changes can cause issues such as PMDD. so it can then happen post partum
your period can cause any mh issues can be exacerbated (PME) this isn't really a recognised one as much as PMDD though, but they are very similar.

Id suggest that you speak to your doctor about your medication and how they are impacting you.
it may be your escitalopram needs to be changed as 20mg is the max dose (in the uk at least). its never a case of 'it should be working' with a lot of anti depressants it can be trial and error. just need to find the right one for you. ive been on escitalopram twice and it didn't help regardless of what else I was on with it. SSRI's in general have never made any positive impact on my mh. its ok to need to try different ones to find what works for you

CBT can be really useful if youre able to apply the techniques to your every day life. some exercise work for some people. (ive done CBT before as well and it isn't actually listed as appropriate treatment for my mental illness) the only skills I found useful were the breathing exercises. Box breathing almost has to work in a way, taking control of your breathing in theory will make an impact its just recognising when to do it and trusting into it long enough for it to work.
