Groceries to buy for Xmas

Had a cold last week and feeling weak and light headed this week and can't think straight. I need to focus on Xmas though. On top of that someone has left freezer open twice this week so I need to defrost before Xmas.

First please remind me of non perishable food items I can buy now. I've already got pickles, mayo, ingredients to make own dressing, Xmas cake, Panettone, gravy, hollannaise sauce. Mince pies, Xmas pudd and cat food are on the list. Have plenty of washing up liquid and toilet rolls.

Food to buy later: turkey breast, salmon, quorn mince, ingredients for veggie shepherds pie and veggie curry, carrots, sproats, potatoes, clementines, crusty rolls, cheese, sausage rolls, dips, salad items. I don't need to go over the top of only two of us plus five guests spread out, four of which will be for one meal each day. I've never got room for puddings and only DH and two guests will want them, so might get some individual puddings and one main.

Thank you. How could I forget parsnips, one of my favourite things. Have also taken other things from your list and added them to mine.

I really need to get my head in the game and get my list finalised.

I have a food delivery coming on Christmas Eve morning and we're actually out for Christmas dinner (but I will be doing a full on dinner at home on Boxing day)

I have already started adding bits and pieces to the weekly shopping so we have a few bits already (After Eight Mints, Ferrero Rocha, Lindt chocolates plus a carton of Celebrations, Heroes, Quality Street and Roses) but I'm usually a lot more organised by this time of year.

For God sake (and yours) put a large notice on the door telling people to check they shut the freezer properly. I know you should not have to but apparently you do!!!

I think your doing ok! you seem to have covered the essentials 😂

Thanks.

Actually, maybe I should be clearer about the freezer - it's an integrated one, but slips back so gets to the stage it doesn't seal shut properly. I'm the only one who seems to notice this, and when I do I take the lower tray out and pull freezer back into position).

Hoping for a new kitchen next year and it goes without saying, we'll be having a free standing fridge/freezer!
