Are you a good host or a better guest?

Does anyone actually enjoy hosting family and friends?

I know a lot of it depends on whether you have the enough space for everyone to be comfortable but I think some people are just naturally good hosts.
My parents and in-laws are excellent hosts and everyone goes away feeling spoilt.
I strive to be like that!

I'd far rather host. I like looking after people and being busy. I get bored in other peoples homes. I'm a home bird and can't relax else where.

I like to think DH and are good hosts and good guests.

I think the trick to either, is to be trying to think about what the guests/hosts would like/would make things easier/more fun.

So as hosts, we always think about what food people would like, ensure there's lots to drink etc. Do as much as possible in advance so that there's less rushing around at the last minute.

As guests, I like to bring something the hosts will find helpful... be guided b them if I can. And if I bring something, dont' get twitchy about how its used. So if I bring wine and they open it on the spot, great. if they don't, that's fine too. Help - but within reason. No one wants guest to be mopping floors but help to clear tables and load dishwashers, if appropriate.

And actually, I think overall, the top tip is to be sensitive to what hosts/guests want/need.

I'm a decent host, or was when I had a big house. Now we tend to host by paying the bill when we meet people out
