How much hair do you lose (picture)?

This is what comes off my hairbrush when I brush my hair through after I've washed it. I use a 'Wet Brush' which is meant to be more gentle.
Does this look excessive??
It's not a new thing but I sometimes worry how on earth my head can replenish it all...

That's very little OP, I lose a couple of handfuls every wash- scrunches up into the size of 2 satsumas. It's always been the same for me and I have thick mid-long hair. I'm not thinning.

I lost a hell of a lot after having covid last year. Didn't realise how thin it had got until I saw a photo. It mostly grew back, then I got it again and it's a bit mangy looking again, but not as bad.

I also do a big shed in autumn.

Just coming back to this thread, hope you don't mind OP, I don't want to take it over but it was sooo helpful yesterday.

Does anyone use a detangler after washing? Do you think it helps and is there one you'd recommend?

Of course not @Heyjoni !
Great question and I'm interested, too. My hair gets ridiculously tangled especially during washing.

In the last few years I’ve lost my elderly mum and dad. Divorced my husband having had no choice. Moved home and changed jobs twice.

My once long lustrous hair is now really thin and lacklustre. All I can do is treat it gently and hope.

I think your hair brush amount of hair is not excessive. Try not to worry.

Very sorry to hear all this. Hope things look up for you.
Hair wise, have you tried collagen, as some PP have recommended?

@HowMuchHair Yes, I’m taking a decent collagen/hyaluronic/biotin mix. Fingers crossed! 😊

I lose more than that. It might be post natal or peri menopausal.

are there any supplements I can take?

TheCanaryInThePurpleSkirt · 03/12/2024 13:46

I buy from VitaBright. Not convinced it’s helpful for my hair but my skin is smooth as smooth can be!

65 and I lose a lot more, ageing process

Don’t mean to hijack but I’m wondering if some highlights might thicken it up? I used to have them years ago when I had loads of hair anyway but the colour always “fattened” it up, as it were.
