Learner Driver Insurance

DD (17) is due to sit her practical test end of this month and has just bought her first car.

My question is if we take out an annual "learner" policy (much cheaper than paying monthly) when she passes her test are we able to cancel the policy and be refunded the balance?
No way I want to fork out £600 for 1 month! If we aren't refunded!

You need to check their refund terms. You're unlikely to get a full pro rata refund.

Have been doing a search on comparison sites - is there an easy way to check refund policies?

Click through to the insurer's site and check their t&cs.

Depends on the insurance. My dd had a car before passing, we insured it with admiral on my multi car insurance for her to drive on a provisional licence (and i could drive it myself) in her name (I was listed as an additional driver), when she passed they converted it to a full policy. Learners insurance sometimes however is a piggy back policy to allow a learner driver to drive your existing vehicle which has insurance, just not for them, so might not be a suitable policy

I with Direct Line and annoyingly won't allow me to take out an additional leaner policy in DD's name.

Got a quote from Marmalade for £2k (no increase once she passes) but wasn't massively impressed when we used them from DS
