Am thinking of making this but not sure if it'll be delicious or a bit slimey/ sloppy.

Any words of wisdom please?

I made this last week. It was nice however I found it hard to serve as the chicken fell apart (tasted, great)
I am planning to repeat using chicken thigh and leg rather than a whole chicken.

It's delicious, but very soupy. Not slimy though. Just a bit messy as said! It's an absolute favourite with us.

Yep, as above! Rebecca Wilson has a similar version in one of her family cook books which is “drier” (but not dry!) and uses chicken thighs instead of a whole chicken - I use that recipe if I can’t face faffing around with the carcass collapsing in the Nigella one. Nigella’s is fab though.

Good call, thanks.
Might go for some legs and thighs.
Do you go for ones with skin on / bone in and brown before adding to pan?

Airfryed the thighs to brown them and then pretty much did the Nigella thing.
Declared delicious by meat eating folk.
I made a sweet potato veggie version which was very tasty

A favorite in our house! It can be a bit messy-so if it's for guests I sometimes take the chicken out at the end, slice it up snd put it back. Personally, i wouldn't use chicken portions-I think it would be very easy to overcook.
