Best film version of A Christmas Carol?

DD (14) and I are going to see a ballet of A Christmas Carol just before Christmas. She doesn’t know the story. I only know it from the Bill Murray film Scrooged, and general cultural osmosis - I’ve never read it.

What would you say is the best film to watch so that she fully understands what’s happening on stage? Neither of us have seen A Muppet Christmas Carol but I’m told it’s not a straight re-telling just with muppets, and might not be the best representation 😂

Another Muppets totally

This is our last Christmas film we watch Christmas eve.

Us too.
Because there’s only one more sleep till Christmas.

Muppets. Apparently on Disney+ there’s an option to watch the original length film with the boring song that we used to fast forward through.

Albert Finney’s musical version Scrooge is also brilliant.

Michael Caine's decision to play the part absolutely seriously is what makes the film -

The muppets!

I think we’ve just always been an Elf house when it came to Christmas movies.

(I also didn’t much like the muppets as a child myself, I think Miss Piggy’s random violence disturbed me)

I'm sorry @GetMyCloak my flabber has been gassed, that is by far the BEST part of the film! I used to rewind the video as a child and watch it over and over again, pretending to be Belle 😂 when I got the dvd and realised they had cut the song out I would pause it, find the clip on YouTube and watch and then resume the DVD. Thank god for Disney for also supplying the REAL film option 😁

The Muppet Christmas Carol is undoubtedly the best film version, but it's definitely worth reading the book: it's quite short.

Just to say, the original book isn’t a full novel, it’s a short story really so it’d be quite easy to read before the ballet.
