They've gone and bloody discontinued it! 4 weeks from the big day and they've stopped bloody making it.

Gutted.

I've tried EVERY cranberry sauce on the market - EVERY ONE - and they're tasteless in comparison.

I'm bloody raging.

RAGING.

Is this not it?

Whoa what?!

Is that there now??

In the fresh section?

Yes they've probably pulled the jars for a few weeks to sell the fresh ones then will bring the jars back out in January.

I'm onto them 🕵️

As others have said, it’s very easy to make

It's only nice if that's what you like. Cinnamon and cloves do not feature in my cranberry sauce!

My cranberry sauce is the big standard Tesco one. It's simple, has whole berries in it, and is much better than the branded ones (imo). I make lots of things from scratch, but Tesco bog standard is our traditional cranberry sauce.

Then just leave out the flavours you don’t like. Wash berries, put in a saucepan over a low heat with a little water, put the lid on. The berries pop in under 5 mins then you stir in sugar to taste. If you don’t want brown sugar then you don’t use brown sugar; I always use white and I don’t add any spices.

Make your own, it's really easy, takes 10 mins - I use the zest and juice of an orange, a punnet of cranberries, concentrated orange juice to cover the cranberries (just), a few cloves and sugar to taste. Heat on a medium heat hob until the cranberries start bursting, reduce then cook until desired consistency (I pop about half the cranberries). Check sweetness at this point, you need more sugar than you might think.

It freezes and will store in sterilised jars too

we like the normal Tesco one in a jar. As pp says, lots of whole berries in it.
And Tesco do a fresh cranberry sauce.

Waitrose wild cranberry sauce is my favourite

This thread has inspired me to make my own cranberry sauce (sorry OP!)

Would one 250g punnet make enough cranberry sauce for Xmas dinner for 10 or would I need two punnets?

At least two because it’s delicious and goes with almost everything

Amazing, thank you! We’ll probably have bacon and Brie sandwiches at some point so it’ll go perfectly with those too 🤤😂

I do two punnets - we have 8 on the Christmas Day & 10 on Boxing Day, there is always some left for sandwiches too!

i made some for a couple of years running but it takes loads of sugar which i did not like the idea of - tried honey and not much better
so i buy it - but really the level of fruit is not much in any of them
mostly sugar

but have taken to making own bread sauce

Delia's cranberry and orange relish is the best, made it for decades, only uses 75g sugar to 450g cranberries so not particularly sweet.
Her bread sauce recipe is excellent too.
