What coffee machine for decaf drinker?

We mostly drink decaf in this house because caffeine agrivates my health condition, and dp isn't all that into coffee. Although occasionally we will have caff, and always want to be able to offer it to guests.

We normally use a cafetiere at weekends when we can be bothered, and during the week I make maybe 1 instant decaf a day (nescafe azera is great).

Recently a dolce gusto pod coffee machine has appeared at work, and I love it! I love the creamyness of a proper coffee and I want to upgrade my home coffee situation!

The only thing is it's a real pain finding decaf coffee pods, and when you do there is normally very little choice. Also I'm a bit unsure about the environmental waste aspect of all those coffee pods.

But I definitely don't have the time, funds or inclination for a full on bean to cup espresso machine, I just don't drink enough coffee I think.

I've heard about refillable pods, but also that they aren't that good.

What is the best option to give me a decent choice of decaf coffee, and is quick and convenient?

TIA!

I have an Aeropress that I use with a really nice Swiss water decaf ground coffee that I get on subscription. Decaf instant is grim. I think you can do any of the coffee afficionado gadgets (drip cone, Moka pot) with a good decaf. I like the Aeropress as virtually no waste or mess and the filters come in a box that lasts months.

Thanks! I've not thought about aeropress, but worried it's a bit of a faff compared with a pod machines, and not as thick / creamy? Although I've never actually tried one.

It's not a faff, not at all. But you don't get much of a crema on the coffee, if that's what you mean by creamy. Maybe you do need a little pod machine.

Would you consider a bean to cup machine, using decaf beans in it? Much fresher and nicer coffee, none of the waste associated with pods. Guests enjoy it and don't notice the lack of caffeine! We bung our used coffee grounds into the compost heap, you could send them out with the food waste if you don't have one.

Dolce gusto lungo decaff is my absolute favourite coffee. I have it on subscription from Amazon and have a basic dolce Gusto pod machine.

We limit our caffeinated coffee so have decaf too - use an Aeropress for both. We're using 'Definitely Decaf' from Raw Bean at the moment it's nice and tastes like proper coffee. We get it from Waitrose, but I found the website

They do it in a pod too, no idea what it's like or what the machines it'd be compatible are like but it says they're 100% aluminium so recyclable so maybe would be of interest to you

Nespresso have a range of decaf pods, moreso for the Vertuo machines. That way you also have lots of caffeinated choice too.
