I can understand the Mail making a thing of him being a vegan but even one of his neighbours mentioned it -
'I couldn't believe it – we'd been living so close to someone who'd been on the run from the FBI for 20 years.
'It's no wonder he never told us anything about his background.
'We would just exchange a few words when we passed him while walking the dog, he never introduced himself.
'One thing I always noticed was there was always lots of discarded vegan food packaging around his bins – which all makes a lot of sense now.'

??

Beware of those vegans - there's a hidden terrorist inside every one

Hoppinggreen · 28/11/2024 11:13

Well it either shows that Vegans are all terrorists OR its surprising that he was a criminal as as Vegans are all wimpy tree huggers, take your pick
Either way Vegans = Bad according to the Daily Mail

mindutopia · 28/11/2024 11:47

As I understand it, he send bombs/devices to several biotechnology companies involved in animal testing. His terrorism was animal rights related, so I assume the veganism is related to his extremist views (not saying being vegan or against animal testing is extremist, but trying to blow people up is).

At least he stuck to his principles by remaining a vegan. It must be quite difficult to do that whilst on the run.

I think they do have Vegan food in Wales, he hasn't been hiding out in a butchers shop - although if he had maybe it would have thrown them off the scent

Discarded food packaging around his bin? Is anyone else wondering why he didn’t put it IN the bin?

Weirdo.

Westfacing · 28/11/2024 12:15

North Wales seems to be the place for Americans to hide away in - Serpico (played by Al Pacino) lived there for a while!

Not sure he was ducking and diving through woodland etc. He had a house and a dog… and bins he didn’t know how to use.

Can someone explain why people seem to gravitate to rural Wales to disappear? We have family members (low contact, so can't really ask them) who moved there seemingly to go a bit off grid, and they also hang about with other off grid types. Do people just keep to themselves a lot? I imagine for an american fugitive, there would be other places in Europe more remote/unpopulated and easier to disappear in? Wales isn't really that remote, he had neighbours after all!

well yes and as an American he would surely stand out more than in a big city

Well when it comes to non sequiturs/bad syllogisms the DM is The Master 😂
One thing I always noticed was there was always lots of discarded vegan food packaging around his bins – which all makes a lot of sense now
I'm trying to imagine the leading question that elicited such a batshit response 😂

If he is as much of a tree hugger as the DM are trying to make out I doubt he litters, he would be much more likely to recycle correctly

Should've cooked from scratch

I am side-eyeing the neighbours a bit. I can see them noticing that a bin is overflowing but to notice it’s vegan food packaging suggests quite a close inspection.

Maybe the language barrier makes it easier to go for the UK rather than mainland Europe. Or maybe more vegans in the UK?
