Is this onion safe to eat? Mould on skin see pic

Hello! I have an onion that has some black mould on the skin. See pic. It's only on one side (rest of skin is perfectly fine)! Would you peel it and use it?
Not sure if safe or not.

I'm just honestly astounded that someone has to ask that question. What's the worst that could happen by peeling an onion and having a look to see what's underneath. Surely you can see that?
