Obviously no one can say for sure what happened but any ideas would be appreciated.

This evening I had to pick my dd (11) up from a party at 8pm. The party was at a house in a road behind my local supermarket so as I needed a few groceries I parked at the supermarket, bought what I needed then headed back to the car to put the food into the car before heading to get my dd. As I walked towards my car and pressed the fob to unlock the car nothing happened. It was like my car was completely drained of battery and the fob couldn't connect with the car. It's only a year old and I've never had any issue with the fob, the electrics or anything else since buying it so it seemed strange. I didn't have time to do anything about it at that point as I was running a bit late to get my dd, so I walked the short distance to the party girl's house, chatted to the girl's mum briefly then we walked back to the car.

As we approached the car (in a now almost empty car park) I saw a group of 5 teenagers standing around 2 metres away from my car to the side of it. I didn't think much of it as I was more concerned about whether the car would unlock. When I pressed the fob it unlocked immediately. At that point the teenagers who had been talking and laughing together stopped and turned to look at us. As we got into the car,
without saying a word to each other, they all silently started moving in front and around the side of the car- the two girls stood right in front of the car staring at me, and the three boys moved round to the passenger side of the car where my dd was sat- the eldest boy (around 15/16) stood next to her window staring in at her in an intimidating way.

I turned on the engine, and the girls looked right at me for a few more seconds, then gave each other a side eye look, started laughing then they walked really slowly away from the front of the car.

As I was driving away my dd asked me why they had done that. I just said it was teenagers being silly but I was shaking as I drove home, which sounds ridiculous as nothing happened, but the whole thing felt intimidating and designed to make us feel threatened.

Anyway, once home I told my dh about both the key fob and teenager incidents and now we're wondering if they're connected. I'm not sure how they could be connected, or whether we're letting our imaginations run wild. Just the two incidents together seem odd. What do you think? Can anyone think how they could be connected?

That would have frightened me too OP. Very odd. Hope you are OK. Maybe check the car over in the morning. X

I don't think it was connected.
Our key fob is always doing this - we have to change the battery regularly.

The teenagers were being dicks. Yes, trying to intimidate you, get a reaction. Possibly seen it on a film or Tik Tok or something.
You could report it to the police? There might be CCTV footage of the car park?

We've checked with the supermarket (dh is friends with one of the managers) but they don't have cctv of the car park. Just to be on the safe side we've parked my dh's work van in front of our car so it can't be driven off the driveway.

That's very unsettling. About a week ago a van two streets from me had someone trying to break in, the messages posted on the community fb were with regards the cloning of key fobs and something about getting something to make sure that didn't happen; I'll try and find the post, maybe report to the police in case it was something similar?
