The older ones among us will no doubt remember this weekday early afternoon staple, presented first by Dorothy Sleightholme then Grace Mulligan. Did you ever watch or did/do you have the recipe books? There's a few programme excerpts on YouTube and so many people comment with their memories and that they still use the recipes in the books which were often passed down from parents and grandparents.

I loved it.

I do have the recipe book, bought it when I was a student as it seemed to have some of everything. My favourite recipe is the Wassail, used to make it for Christmas parties. The preserves section is great.

I have my Grandma's copy of the book but have never seen the series. I was wondering what all the references to Dorothy Sleightholme in the book were! (Dorothy Sleightholme's salt and pepper mix -basically salt and pepper mixed together)

I have 3 paperback recipe books from this series - and they are falling to pieces.

My mum had one. It used to follow Crown Court iirc.

Ha that takes me back, I've got my mum's copy of one of the Farmhouse Kitchen recipe books, can't say I ever make anything out of it now though I do bake, but keep it mostly for sentimental reasons. It has a rather peculiar layout and index which makes it hard to find particular recipes. I think we were the Dorothy Sleightholme period.

I've just been watching on YouTube a recently posted episode of Dorothy with her chum from Goole making various Christmas sweet things. The calorie count must be enormous but the programme is quite endearing.
