A bit random…but please help me decide. Do I buy a shed with or without a window and why?

The shed is for my allotment, will be double doored and most likely pent shaped.

Whatever you chose, I would suggest you paint the inside (including roof) with a very light colour, you can even use white emulsion. It makes such a difference when the interior is bright (with or without a window)

Window. Our garden shed had a blocked window (large shelving unit in front of it) and I found it really difficult to search for small things despite decent lighting.

Currently we re-designed it and now the window is open. DH put a roller blind from the inside. No idea if that is helpful or not but as you would have to climb over fences to get into our garden I assume it's fairly safe anyway.

Lots easier to find items now.

Can you get one with a sky light window?

I made the roof of our shed with twin wall poly carb, which allows light in but have solid walls so I could have max shelves and security.

My potting shed is windowless, but has lights inside via Solar panel on the roof attached to a battery, attached to lights and switch.

Thank you so much everyone. I think I'm swayed towards a window, though love the idea of skylights in the roof ( though beyond our DIY skills).

This has been so handy for ideas too.

If you're planning to use it for storage only, a window might not be necessary and could just be a weak spot for security. But if you’ll be working in there or want a bit of natural light, it’s worth considering.

I had the same debate and ended up with no window because I wanted everything inside to stay private. When you buy storage sheds, think about insulation too if you’re keeping delicate items.
