Eight Divisions in the NFL, divided into four in each Conference, NFC and AFC.
Every Division winner qualifies for the Playoffs and is guaranteed one Home game. The three teams with the next best records in both Conferences also qualify as Wildcards, so seven teams total in each Conference.
Qualifiers are then seeded 1-7 in each Conference, with the #1 Seed given a "bye" in the first round. Division Winners are always Seeds #1 - #4, with the Wildcards #5,#6, and #7.
In the Wildcard round #2 hosts #7, #3 hosts #6, #4 hosts #5
Winners then progress to the Divisional round, where they are joined by #1. #1 seed hosts the lowest remaining seed, next highest seeded team remaining hosts the third ranked team. Winners progress to the Championship round.
Championship is hosted by the highest seed with the lower of the two the visitor Winner of this game is the Conference Champion for that season and progresses to the Superbowl.
Superbowl = AFC Champion v's NFC Champion.
The Bills should win their Division comfortably and host at least one playoff game. As things stand they are currently the #2 seed, but they have just beaten the Kansas City Chiefs who are the current #1 seed, so there is a chance of them overtaking KC for the #1 seed and gaining "home advantage" throughout the playoffs.
Right now there are no team which have guaranteed themselves a playoff place as it's too early in the season. There are also no teams currently eliminated from contention, although that will change in the next few weeks. It is coming up to Week 12, and by Week 14 we should start seeing teams being eliminated from playoff contention, and the first few teams guaranteeing themselves playoff spots.
