5yr old knows about "the middle finger"

Feeling a bit sad. My son started primary school this year and tonight he said "guess what someone bad at school did today?" And I asked what and turned around and he had his finger up at me and said "X did the middle finger". Now my son knew it wasn't a good thing and he looked very serious about it. He said the boy had done it to my son's friend. I think that is crazy young to know about giving people the middle finger :(
Is 5 normal where they learn about these things?

It's not nice but normal sadly. My 6 year old is in year 2 and as a result knows about squid game, it's ridiculous!

I'm not at all surprised or shocked that your 5 year old knows how to flip the bird.
The child that did that has likely seen a parent or someone else do it at, for instance, another driver. That happens all the time; I mean all - the - time!
Such a simple thing to copy and yes there are worse things a 5-year-old could be picking up at school or anywhere else, the connotation of the middle finger is indicative of a not nice reaction to something that has made someone angry, but at least it isn't verbal.
