Kew Gardens

I'm going to the Christmas at Kew Gardens light trail with some family for the first time. We've not been before and not sure on the terrain. Is it just a footpath? Or muddy? What footwear is best?
Thanks!

I haven't done the trail, sounds lovely. However I've been to Kew a few times and they have good footpaths which don't get muddy.

Mainly footpaths, the main issue is getting cold!
I usually wear furry boots.

It's a footpath, quite solid but not all tarmac. If it's been raining there might be a few puddles or muddier bits but it's pretty easy terrain for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

We went in the first year they did it (iirc) and it was hosing it down with rain the entire time. It was freezing and we got soaked, the temporary pathways were very muddy and it smelt of sewage. There was practically nowhere to shelter. And you had to keep going really, no turning back. They might have sorted it by now though. It was kind of enjoyable still in an "omg!" kind of way.
