What Were These Biscuits From the 80s Called?

I'm sure I didn't imagine them. They were round, shortbready taste, with little bobbles all over them. They came in a green packet? Can't remember who made them, I seem to recall the name Lincoln or something ?

You don’t mean Viscounts do you? Green tinfoil wrapper, shortbread covered with chocolate. Round and bobbly. Made by Lyons.

Yes I remember Mcvites Lincoln biscuits. I had forgotten them and now I want a biscuit.

Viscounts still exist. They sell the mint ones in Tesco. They are quite cheap as well compared to similar biscuits like penguins.

you're missing the important bit-the mint fondant filling in the middle. When the intergalactic space alien judges finally rock up and present us with our worst crimes (holocaust, world wars, massacres etc.) and ask what we have to say in mitigation we will have to counter with the best of our achievements-Einstein, Marie Curie, Beethoven, Jane Austen, Isaac Newton......and Viscount Biscuits.

Add McVities Rich Tea Biscuits, companion of British tea lovers everywhere and a pinnacle of human endeavour! Nothing beats a tea dunked rich tea biscuit.. The Aliens will surely give us all their technology in exchange.

Used to love Lincon biscuits! When I was little I'd scrape the bobbly bits off with my teeth then eat the rest!

Biscuit

I don't remember Lincoln biscuits at all. Must have passed me by. I do remember McVitie's Royal Scot which were probably a similar style.

Nah, googling would have been dull and would have deprived a load of MNers of a few Proustian moments of biscuit recall.

Its the wrapper that did that. Something about a biscuit in a wrapper.

DearSnail · 18/11/2024 09:45

Gosh I was only thinking about these biscuits yesterday (no idea what they were called though) and even though they looked so nothingey they were actually delicious and incredibly moreish.

Think I just proved your point!

They were always referred to as 'manhole covers' in our house.

DappledThings · 18/11/2024 09:49

I had forgotten about Lincoln biscuits until a couple of years ago when SIL requested some Pandora earrings for Christmas and that's what they looked like. Had to go and Google then to remind myself of the name and not forgotten it since!

The earrings don't seem to be available anymore.
