Diffusers: Expensive v. Reasonable Priced

Posting on here for more traffic (mods: hope you don't mind).

How can I choose a decent one without breaking the bank?

I've always have had bad luck choosing them as the ones in the past were only £20 but when I get them home they are always not so nice as they smell too chemically and astringent. I've heard that Dalesford Organics, Neom and Diptique do really nice ones that smell luxurious, but they're a bit on the spendy side. Or do I have to resign to buying the high end ones in order to get something really nice?

Scent-wise, I like: musky, vertiver, vanilla, patchouli, sandalwood. Not keen on sporty, citrusy and fruity smells

Since contracting covid 3 times, my sense of smell has gone funny in the past year and I don't wear perfume anymore due to this. (Previously worn: Chanel, Guerlain, D&G, Tom Ford...)

What are your faves and how long do they last?

I’ve found the ones they sell in National Trust shops to be the best. They last for ages and I’m always being asked where I get them from

Have a look at Valentte. They're very good value and their scents last well and have a strong throw.

I was coming on here to recommend Vallente too. I was given one for my birthday and it's the best diffuser I've ever had. It's in my bedroom and I smell it the minute I walk in. It's the neroli and lemon I think. They have a special offer of £8 or £9 each at the moment I think.

I bought a Vallentte one to put in my small porch because when my jackets get wet they smell a bit. My porch is about 6 feet square I could barely smell in fact most of the time I couldn’t smell it at all; a complete waste of money. I’ve since replaced it with a Neom one and it smells lovely everyone comments on it.

I got a Rituals one in an advent calendar a couple of years ago. Not a brand I was aware of. Put in the ds loo and I’m not exaggerating, the smell lasted about 8 months.

I now buy them regularly. Love them.

I love Chapter Organics. Their reed diffusers smell gorgeous and last about 6 months.

Biggie Best diffusers are my favourite for longevity, scent and throw of scent (more so than Jo Malone, Neom and Molton Brown for me). I can smell one I have on an upstairs window sill as I get half way upstairs without it being over bearing.

I've had the lavender one (for the bedroom) and sweet midnight cherry and loved them both. Best I've ever had too! Much better than ones that cost 7-8 times as much!
