Pillows that don't go lumpy

I know the definition of madness is to continually do the same thing, but expect a different result.

I keep buying Dorma Hotel pillows from Dunhelm. They start off so nice, the perfect balance of fullness and softness.

But eventually they settle into lumpy chunks. Urgh.

I've avoided feather pillows as have memories as a child of getting stabbed in the face by the stalks.

Have anyone got a recommendation for a pillow please?

Ive got a brand called dunlopillo I purchased them in John Lewis I tried to link them but sadly I couldn’t find them on their website. I’ve used this brand for the last 35 years replacing them with the same thing periodically. Argos also used to sell them but again they don’t appear to anymore. Not the cheapest pillows but last well.

I've found that you need to pay well over £50 for a decent pillow.

How much are you spending?

Me have amazing memory foam ones they were £90 each but are a joy

I'm allergic to feathers/dust etc.
Used to
get a very stiff neck, unrestful sleep etc after trying every pillow under the sun, from £ -£££. Feather/non feather , you name it.
Got a Tempur Dream Cloud years ago, they were about £80 then.
Gamechanger !!!!!!! Best thing I ever purchased.
Even my DC's loved them after I replaced their feather filled ones.
Guess this is the updated version:

You spent 25-30% of your life asleep ( 7/8 hours out of 24 ) if lucky.
Spend your money, if you can , on anything that improves sleep quality/rest.
Pillows and mattresses before anything else.

Shredded memory foam.
It's not a heavy solid lump like regular memory foam.

DH has one filled with small bits of memo foam from IKEA (not one of the hard orthopedic ones). It's still doing well after 5 years. I like the orthopedic ones, but they're not exactly light and fluffy!

Viewfrommyhouse · 16/11/2024 20:29

Shredded memory foam is great

I got my DH Swiss Comfort one in TKMaxx and liked it so much I got myself one too. They keep shape so well.

It would scare the life out of me spending £139 on a pillow in case it didn't suit, guess you can't send back obviously

We had mlily dream 4000 pillows for a while, they were £60 ish each, a few years ago. They were nice, supportive.

We got a new mattress last year, temper. And got two pillows as part of a deal. They're really good, they're cool feel. Really heavy which is the only annoying thing, in case you want to move one in the night, and they need to be fluffed up a bit occasionally.

The mlily pillows went to the kids, and they really like them. They're about 4 years old now and still the same shape as they were new.

willsandnoodle · 16/11/2024 21:12

The pillows I have are the temper ones @Peony15 mentions. I didn't realise they were so expensive to buy separately

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I need to up my budget in order to get the quality I'm looking for.

Appreciate all the suggestions 🙏
