Fancy chocolate gift suggestions

I’m looking for a somewhat more upmarket/nice chocolate gift this Xmas. It’s for someone who’s been very kind to me this year, in a professional capacity and I’m grateful to them.

The only high-end ish brand I can think of is Hotel Chocolat, but barring their macarons, their chocolate is naff.
Lindt, Thorntons etc arn’t nice enough.

Looking to spend £50 or less.
Any ideas?

Fortnum & Masons deliver lovely chocolates/brownies straight to the recipient.

Topbird29 · 15/11/2024 20:27

Not had them, but often see Leonaides recommended (I think that's how it's spelt).
I have tried Charbbonel et Walker champagne truffles and they are lovely.

Yep this is what I was gonna say. Its a name everyone knows rather than something obscure. £40 will get something.

-Cocoa Loco - minimal ingredients, small business.
-Leonidas Belgium chocolates.

Tina159 · 15/11/2024 20:36

Artisan du chocolate - their Couture Collection or Luxury Assortments.
They were recommended to me on here years ago - worlds away from Hotel Chocolat which to me are not much better than Thorntons <shudder>.

Squidthing · 15/11/2024 20:37

Fortnum & Mason do some beautiful chocs

SaltaKatten · 15/11/2024 20:39

Salt and sugar chocolates, delicious and look really impressive too.

SleepingisanArt · 15/11/2024 20:45

Leonidas are my favourite 'special' chocolates- they do great selections, pick your own, alcoholic, non alcoholic, fresh cream centres etc etc. We'll be having some at Christmas (we choose our favourites!)

Cowardlybitch · 15/11/2024 20:59

Lauden (husband loves the whisky ones) or Chocolarder ( I think Chocolarder was featured on James Martin). I treated myself to some when I went away and the sea salt caramels were lovely and not ultra-processed.

It is lovely that you want to recognise their kindness.

RegimentalSturgeon · 15/11/2024 21:29

Artisan du chocolat, the Couture Ecrin.

StormingNorman · 15/11/2024 21:37

Charbonnel & Walker. Their espresso martini truffles are amazing if you want something a bit quirky.

Audrey's chocolates in Brighton (also online). They supply Fortnum and Mason.

SaturdayGiraffe · 15/11/2024 21:49

Melt are just the best.

Ineffable23 · 15/11/2024 21:50

Fortnums florentines are utterly delicious. Not chocolates but they are chocolate. Utterly heavenly.

Tel12 · 15/11/2024 21:51

Charbonnel and Walker are lovely and you can get a decent box for under £50

Fantastic, thanks everyone. So many brands I’ve never come across. Will probably end up getting some for myself to try aswell.
Much appreciated.
