Has anyone had a boiled wool jacket shrunk by the dry cleaners?

Exciting thread alert. The dry cleaners have shrunk my favourite boiled wool jacket. I am very annoyed as I only got it dry cleaned as it is so precious to me. I hand wash my other ones which is a bit risky but they seem okay. Dry cleaned one is now unwearable.

Does this happen often? I thought the point of dry cleaning was that it doesn’t shrink clothes. Jacket is Oska and has a P symbol.

Are you are they did dry clean it? Could they perhaps have washed it?

It has happened to me in the past but it’s generally because the dry cleaner used the wrong solution/ process.

I would start by talking to them and see what they say.

I don’t think they washed it. I have spoken to the dry cleaners and they are going to get back to me. I don’t think they do the cleaning on the premises so they need to send it off to be looked at. They’re going to get back to me. I’m just a bit bemused that it’s even possible for them to shrink something. As you say, maybe the wrong process was used.

I haven't personally had a boiled wool jacket shrunk, but I’ve heard it can definitely happen if the jacket isn't cleaned properly. Boiled wool is more delicate than regular wool, and dry cleaners may use heat or harsh chemicals that can affect the fabric. If you’re worried, it’s a good idea to specifically ask the dry cleaner about their process or even hand wash it yourself using cold water and air dry to be safe!
