It looks like you've had a virus or infections and your lymph nodes are raised in reaction to that.

melmel78 · 16/11/2024 19:42

@Worrieduser1976 thank you for your response but I searched on google and it says hypoechoic is not good

You’ve had a virus/infection and your lymph nodes are raised.
They can stay raised for some time however, if you haven’t had any bloods done then I suggest you get them done.
Its o my part of the picture do difficult to tell without knowing how c you’ve had other symptoms such as weight loss, bleeding, other lumps anywhere, night sweats etc

I did have bloods like a month or two before the bloods came which was fine but I will ask my doctor to repeat bloods again I haven't as any other the following you suggested @Birdseyetrifle

OP posts:
melmel78 · 16/11/2024 20:32

Plus the lumps have been there for 3 months and haven't gotten bigger one has went down a small bit but that's it

Birdseyetrifle · 16/11/2024 20:34

They can remain swollen for many many months. If your bloods were normal, and you’ve no other symptoms, I would not be too worried at all.

MissEloiseBridgerton · 16/11/2024 20:38

Hypoechoic just describes how the ultrasound views them. The conclusion is what you need to focus on. They have confirmed the lumps to be reactive lymph nodes which can be inflamed for many many reasons, rarely it's a bad diagnosis but in the absence of other symptoms, it's just one of those things. Might be a reaction to piercings or illness. They have referred it back to doctors who will likely say come back in X months if not better.

Swollen glands as a reaction to your piercing, will go on their own, nothing to worry about.

autumn1610 · 16/11/2024 20:51

@melmel78 I have a lump under my ear and have a tumour in my parotid aka salivary gland and just waiting for an op to remove. Took about 6 months to get diagnosed as got told it was a lymph node. But it was wasn’t…had mri and biopsy and they are fairly certain it’s benign but want to remove asap so just waiting on a date now for the removal and then further tests will be done. If it doesn’t go don’t let them fob you off I felt like I was wasting the GPs time and my initial notes after my second visit when it had got bigger and hadn’t gone as they kept saying it was a lymph node and I had an infection, i got we are referring the patient as they are anxious…have to say I felt validated the day after my ultrasound and the gp was ringing even though it wasn’t what I wanted to hear.

autumn1610 · 16/11/2024 20:54

however this was picked up on an ultrasound but do keep an eye on it

melmel78 · 16/11/2024 20:56

@autumn1610 omg I'm soo sorry you are going through this I'm happy it's fine now praying for the best for you and I hope you can get it removed as soon as possible

That's why sometimes I don't trust these doctors diagnosis you have to listen to your own gut feelings I'm soo happy that it was okay for you

The lump I have behind my ear is not growing it's got a little smaller since then so I don't know if that's a good sign

OP posts:
melmel78 · 16/11/2024 20:57

@autumn1610 how long did you realise it was getting bigger ? Right away or couple months I've had mine couple months after I had a ear piercing and it's been there since 3 months hasn't gotten bigger one has gotten smaller the other stayed the same

OP posts:
romdowa · 16/11/2024 20:59

Have you tried taking out the piercing and see do the lymph nodes go down?

melmel78 · 16/11/2024 21:02

@romdowa I did take all of them out and that's when I noticed one went down a tiny bit but the other one still there same size this was a month now since I took it out the piercings

Borris · 16/11/2024 21:03

Hypoechoic just means darker than the surrounding tissue

autumn1610 · 16/11/2024 21:08

@melmel78 I think it must have been around this time last year when I initially went and with it being cold season was a it’s probs a lymph node. I had a Quick Look on my nhs app and I submitted photos to them again in March which is when I think I got referred for ultrasound which took about 3months. Since then it’s been fairly reasonable for something they don’t think is sinister. I just kept noticing it on teams calls and when I was doing make up etc. I can’t remember it getting bigger but it must have done over a few months. Tbh since my biopsy you can barely see it but they still want it out which I think as surprised about I thought it would be a monitor situation

autumn1610 · 16/11/2024 21:13

This is what it was like at referral

@autumn1610 wow that's a huge lump I'm soo sorry that you had to deal with that that must of scared you mine is soo tiny compared but I will definitely keep an eye and push doctors to investigate I did a ultrasound had to go private bec doctors wasn't listening

OP posts:
autumn1610 · 16/11/2024 21:19

I know! Honestly, no one seemed to notice it but me?! I got one under my ear after I flew which was before this and I had a massive freak out and I think it was something to do with flying or ear piercing, was maybe more like pea sized. I think I just am a lumpy person but that one did go after a few weeks

FiveTreeHill · 16/11/2024 21:23

The doctors have investigated. The ultrasound has shown multiple reactive lymph nodes. You have had a recent piercing and they are getting smaller. You don't need any further investigations.

autumn1610 · 16/11/2024 21:13

This is what it was like at referral

If they appeared after your piercings then they are likely to associated. You may just have to remove the piercings for them to go.
If your GP thinks they are unrelated then they may refer you to ENT.
Sorry I linked it by accident.

@melmel78 Hi OP did it resolved for you? I am in the same boat now after piercing
