Have you ever been disappointed by a parent who you thought the world of?

My dad was my hero as a kid till I became a teen. My mum turned him against me and I was seen as the problem child. Till this day as an adult I've felt abandoned especially when it comes to support. It doesn't matter who's right or wrong he'll always defend my mother or my sister. Me and my younger sister are always in the wrong.

I can understand why I felt and feel how I do. I went to look 'outside' for love and attention but it didn't always work out. How about you?

I'm ok. My siblings and I are close and they have all gone on to have good careers and lovely families. I had a rocky twenties with an abusive marriage but got out of that and went on to marry the most beautiful man. We are grandparents now. Our hearts are full x

Weirdly I didn't feel surprised. I was quite calm about it. I'd been through hell so this was a walk in the park.

They never once tried to make amends with any of my siblings. Their loss. They have passed away now. I feel nothing. They missed out on us becoming really great people, they missed out on knowing their grandchildren and great grandchildren. I pitied them x
