Anyone familiar with the layout of Manchester airport ? I need to know how far the tram stop is from the train station

Bit of an odd one but dd is determined to go to Manchester Christmas markets this year. My idea of hell as dd also has Autism.......despite this I've always tried to let her have the same experiences as anyone else. But the reality is there's a high chance she'll boot off when things become too much.

So to minimise the stress of the huge crush on Picadilly station (( the dreaded platform 13 )) I've had the brainwave of getting the tram to Manchester airport which is also the first station and getting on there. Problem is I don't have a bloody clue where I'll be going from there. Can any oh so wise mumsnetters help ??

the tram stop at Manchester airport is actually also where the trains are so you ll be fine!

Is it ?? Is there only one stop there ?? I've tried looking on Google maps and getting nowhere 🤣🤣🤣

It’s the next platform. You will need a train ticket beforehand as the tram and train platforms are separated by ticket gates.

Yes, there are discussions about extending Metrolink to T2 but at the moment everything terminates in the same place.

Don't know it if it'll be any less busy, but what about driving to the Trafford centre and getting the tram from there?

We'll be getting the train. The issue is getting back as I know how bad platform 13 is so the plan is to travel further up (( to Manchester airport which Is the start of the line)) so we'll avoid the big crush and already be on the train.

I think I'm going to do a practise run by myself and see how I get on so it will be one less thing to worry about.......already planning on going on a Tuesday in termtime which hopefully won't be as busy.

Ah sorry I misunderstood. Where are you planning to get off?
I would have thought a tram to St Peter's square would be the closest to the markets.

Sorry, just realised I've misunderstood again. Ignore me!

Other place depending on where you're coming from is train to altrincham and then tram into the city. It's also the first station on the line
The markets will be awfully awfully busy last time I went was about 5 years ago and it was so tightly crammed with everyone eating as much food as possible!
