Based on one vomit I'd just monitor, unless there are other symptoms.

A&E - why would you risk your child’s brain?

A&E

A and e will only monitor unless there was a loss of consciousness, 3 vomiting episodes or a seizure

A&E

Actually, scrap my previous - I thought it was 3 or more episodes of vomiting but those guidelines done state that.

K0OLA1D · 13/11/2024 17:11

I'd call 111

But we only live a 2 min drive from A&E

bbymama12 · 13/11/2024 17:12

A&e better to be safe

It's 3 or more episodes to be an indication for CT scan. But bar for just being checked over is lower.

We were recently told that when Ds had a really bad bang to the back of his head - he was literally grey, awful headache and did 2 huge vomits. We rushed to an and e and they were so dismissive as it wasn’t 3 or more vomits (despite the fact it was huge amounts). He was really unwell for days afterwards and 3 months later complications were found on his routine eye test (I think they said it was called traumatic cataracts?) which apparently is due to a head injury sometimes . Still has frequent headaches after the injury and never had them before .

Thanks everyone. The reason I asked was because 111 said to just monitor.
My instinct said A&E
