How did you sell your car?

We want to sell our car and get a small run around for now (buying a house). I know part exchange would be the easiest but I've been told doing it via part exchange, I wouldn't get the best (or reasonable) price for the car?

I want a quick sale and hassle free but at the same time not lose couple of grands off the market price. I have sold via Motorway before, it was straight forward enough until the collection day, they were knocking off ridiculous amount (£600) for a very small chip that wasn't even visible to the eye unless you got right up close to car.

Would like to consider garages, how do I narrow down my list of garages in the area I live?

I'm getting different prices online ie Parker's £8.7k -£9.5k, Confused.com £10.1-£10.9k

All advice welcome, many thanks

We sold it on ‘webuyanycar’. Surprisingly easy.

A slightly off topic question..

Does anyone here know what passes as a FULL SERVICE HISTORY . Trying to work out if my car has maintained a full service or partial up until now. Some have said BMW cars require service every 2years, some have said every year. Getting mixed results on google and xbimmer forum ....Any thoughts?

As long as you haven't missed a service according to the manufacturers' guidance, you've got full service history, even if the services were done by a garage that isn't a main dealership.

If it's missed a service, it's partial.

Most BMWs are 2 years or 20k, whichever is soonest BUT they do have an intelligent service light that comes on as needed.

As above, if there isn't a service every two years or 20k, it's partial. If you go through webuyanycar they throw everything away apart from the stamped booklet. I was fuming I had loads of receipts that I'd kept neatly. Gone!

Edited

Is that for your specific model? I've worked in fleet for almost a decade and it's always been 2years in that time for the standard cars.
