Has anyone here used a shipping service for parcels from US to UK?

I want to buy vintage costume jewellery from US sellers on Ebay, but often the cost of postage is as much as the cost of the items. I've been looking into shipping/consolidation services - ie, get multiple purchases sent to a US address, and then have it all shipped over together. Is there anyone who has used one of these services, and has it been successful? I'm considering using MyUS - has anyone used it? I'd love to do this, but it feels a bit risky! (The reason I want to buy these things from the US is that it's an American brand I've fallen in love with, and there isn't a lot of it for sale from UK sellers, and when there is, it's much more expensive than it is in the US.)

Also, is there anyone who has had vintage items shipped from the US who can tell me anything about customs charges? TIA

Probably not a huge help but over the years I’ve imported multiple items from the US ranging from mugs to vintage guitars. I believe there is a certain value your item has to reach before import is charged so, depending on the value of the jewellery, there may not be additional charges. Probably also not useful information but if you do order, things can get held in customs for quite some time so it won’t necessarily be fast delivery

I forgot to say, if you order via eBay you can prepay import and duties at checkout which means no surprises when your parcel reaches the uk. Due to the charges being prepaid this also in my experience has meant items pass customs within a couple hours, instead of the weeks you can wait for paperwork to be sent so you can pay the duty

I’ve used myUS several times with no issues. Postage is always cheaper than eBay plus you can pay a little extra to insure the package if wanted. Faster than eBay’s global shipping service too, even allowing for Customs.

Hmmmm, I'm interested to see what posters have to say too.
I once bought products from the USA. and not only international shipping charges, but customs/import charges too, it made the total cost of what I had purchased horribly expensive.... so I though "never again".

There's a book I'd love called Love On A Plate by Markus Rothkranz and Cara Brotman.... it's all about raw food recipes.

I know I can purchase the online version for a much more reasonable price, but I'd so love to have the physical book.
The shipping and customs works out more than the price of their book .. ugh!

Yes I’ve used it. I didn’t expect it to work so smoothly but it did…! Takes a little while but less time than I expected. All customs charges were included but the purchase was low value (toys) and was about 4 years ago so may be different now

@VegTrug Thank you, Veg. Two good experiences of MyUS reported so far - this is looking hopeful!

I’m interested in this too. I was in the US buyers club and bought loads of things from them until they closed downs a few years back. I even bought a pram using the system.
it’s great when it works, I need something from America now and they won’t ship here so I need to sign up to something similar but don’t want any scams.

just wondering if you signed up and how did you get on with it?

I’ve used Stackry several times, I’ve never had to pay any VAT or customs fees, but I’ve also never had a parcel declared above £139.
