Living with wider family out of choice?

I have a much older sister and we’re very fortunate to be best friends.

When I was younger I’d stay with them during breaks at uni and lived with them for a while (boomeranged really) after graduation. With maturity I can see I was a CF as I’d just let myself in, moan that the fridge was empty and invite myself along to whatever they were up to (I would make myself useful for free childcare for them).

I’m married now with DC (1) and I think they actually miss me living with them/tagging along.

Myself and DH are thinking of moving away to somewhere we can get more for our money and I’ve been trying to convince them to move too. The conversation turned almost semi serious the other day of how we could pool together to buy/live together and all started listing the pros.

This is all light hearted as I know it will never happen. But I’ve been thinking, I don’t know anyone (who are white British) who live with wider family out of choice.

Yes MN favourite Andrew and Tristan Tate. Pooling money makes you more wealthy.

My friend lived with her parents out of choice and now her sibling. It has worked out well for them financially and childcare-wise.
