Question about car insurance renewal

Nightstars234 · 12/11/2024 11:10

So I have over 9 years no claims. It even says this on my renewal documents.
However on my renewal docs it said there was an accident 3 years ago- which there wasn’t.
Is this some kind of scam?

Give them a ring and ask them for details on the accident and then you can inform them that you did not have an accident and go from there.

Nightstars234 · 12/11/2024 11:17

That’s what I’m doing and the call disconnected.
Going to try again but I’m thinking this must be some kind of scam.

If you have protected no claims bonus, you can have an accident and not lose them. It costs a smidge more to do this but is absolutely worth it. It's likely this is the case.

Are you certain there's nothing? Call them and ask what the claim was - it could be as insignificant as the windscreen chip service they have in some car parks or a replacement which you may not have considered a claim. Or, most likely, it could be an admin error. You'll only know if you call them.

Call the number online not from the letter. Just in case but it's an odd scam and not one I've heard of.

who are you insured with ? Can you log in to your online account and use the chat with an adviser ?

GiraffeTree · 12/11/2024 11:20

It doesn't sound like a scam if it's on your official car insurance documents.

Nightstars234 · 12/11/2024 11:24

I don’t have protected no claims so it’s not that.
Going to call again but I’m suspicious.

I’m calling the number I always call from so it’s the correct number.

Are they listed on previous renewals? Ask them that too and see if you can get money you overpaid back based on it. I'd be looking to protect your no claims tho. At 9 years, you're looking at something like a 37% discount which you could lose in a second.
