Housing association repairs

Hi all,
so I have been stripping my wallpaper in my hallway, up the stairs and on the landing as it was the dreaded woodchip wallpaper and wanted to have just a smooth backing paper to get rid of the texture. As I stripped the wood chip wallpaper it revealed another 2 layers of wallpaper from the 50’s, after removal a lot of plaster had came off with the wallpaper… I am being denied of a few repairs due to them sending people out to do repairs and carelessly damaging more of my property and wondering if this is my responsibility or HA.
this is just some of what the walls are looking like there is much more I just can’t upload

The walls are the HA responsibility

Repairs are the responsibility of the HA.
Unfortunately for them you've decided to decorate properly and have unearthed the actual state of the walls underneath.

Agree walls HA responsibility but from their point of view you removed the paper, and then the plaster came away so I think your fighting a loosing battle. I'd just plaster over the holes and sand.

HA and if they fail to act you can report them to the council housing team.

Plaster shouldn't fall off the walls when you take the wallpaper off.

I think if they fix it you'll be looking at a recharge. I would just plaster and fix myself - it'll be cheaper

In reality old plaster sometimes does though.

In which case it's not the OPs fault and the HA needs to repair it.

Its the HA responsibility.
If they claim not so, submit a formal complaint then ultimately complain to the Housing Ombudsman. Social landlords have had a very easy ride with repairs until recent times.

Which is exactly what I already said. 😬

My tenancy agreement says it’s my responsibility to do the repairs if it’s hairline cracks, if the case was hairline cracks I would’ve filled them in, sanded and wallpapered the walls but the stairs have came away from the walls and plaster has crumbled to the point that it’s the blocks the house is made of, you can see the walls are coming outwards on a certain angle
i honestly regret stripping them but the paper on top had air bubbles opened a can of worms with this one 😂

This house is around 70+ years old i wouldn’t damage a property that I have to live in or breach my tenancy agreement contract that would be very idiotic to do and I get people do that so they can have new things but that’s not for me, I thought it would be a simple job of being able to strip the walls and put new paper up but nothings straight forward with this house lol

Also I can’t remove the paper around the front door which is a pain as whoever has done it have sealed the frames on top of the wallpaper 🙄
luckily I have had a property inspector out today and showed them what I'm dealing with without it just being my say or the contractors say and thankfully is reporting it to be skimmed 🙌
