T1 diabetics using Libre 2 - what’s going on with my sensor?

Been using freestyle Libre 2 CGM for just over a year now, never had any issues. Changed my sensor yesterday morning and since then my reading have been wildly off my actual blood glucose readings.

Woke up this morning feeling fine, checked my levels on my phone and it’s saying 2.5 and had been below 3 all night (alarms hadn’t been ringing but that’s an ongoing problem). Checked my blood sugar using my old meter and it’s 6.6. Same again a few hours later, my levels have barely moved despite eating and taking insulin as normal but my blood glucose was 8.0.

Anyone else had this problem? Do I give it a chance to ‘settle in’ and see if it sorts itself or just call it quits and put on a new sensor? I only have one left and not many test strips so reluctant to change it already if this is something that could potentially sort itself out.

I've used one for years. There always used to be advice to put it on 24h in advance to let it 'settle' before you activated it but I thought the consensus was that was no longer necessary. Maybe give it another day or two to see if it improves and if not ask Abbott for a replacement.

Thanks for replying. I was never told to let it settle but you’ve reminded me of a video i scrolled past on TikTok the other day about ‘soaking’ a new sensor for 24 hours before scanning it for the first time. I didn’t watch it but google tells me this is why.

Will give it another day or so yet to see what happens but at 6.30pm my Libre reading was 3.6 and my blood glucose was 5.6 so it’s not gotten any more accurate as the day has gone on.

Yes, leave it a while longer. Also, make sure you're well hydrated. I also always put mine on a day early to soak, too.

But sometimes, you do get a duff one. The problem is that they can't be calibrated, so if it's consistently reading below or above actual blood glucose, it's hard to bring it back in line. For future reference, it's a good idea to pick a start/warm-up time when blood glucose is likely to be in range and steady.
