Hi,

I support my brother as he has various health issues. He receives PIP and his award ends in about 19 months. He starting to mither over it.

what’s the current situation with PIP reviews- are there still big delays?

Yes, my DH has recently submitted his forms and he phoned the PIp dept to check that they had recieved them and was told up to 52 weeks for a renewal.

Do you still get paid in that time? What happens if they reduce the rates or remove it, would you have to pay it back?

I think you get paid until they decide otherwise. I don’t think you have go pay it back

I understand that they continue to pay it. This is our first PIP renewal. My DH was on continuous DLA for over 30 years before they moved him on to PIP. I would imagine that they would claim the money back if the renewal was unsuccesful.

Thank you, I have a close family member who was awarded for 24 months, would they automatically get the renewal notice or need to reapply? Sorry for asking, I've just never thought about it and want to support them. I will do some research too but grateful for any heads up.

I don’t think they would claim it back- that sounds grossly unfair
