Hi Everybody, I don't post much but am a long time lurker. DD will be 21 in January and as we are a tiny family, instead of a party she wants to go to London for a few days (probably 4). I haven't been to London since the 90's 😊so can only imagine how much its changed since then. A bit of guidance around where to base ourselves, suggestions for hotels, where to eat (one Vegetarian) and any interesting stuff to do would be really appreciated.

My DD's partner will be coming too, they are both really into photography and mentioned something about a market somewhere in London specific to photography? I haven't a clue so any help would be brilliant please.

London is a big place and so many things to do and see. There is a Travelodge ( Premier Inn?) in Westminster by the Abbey and one in Covent Garden if you want somewhere central. download the TFLGo app and City Mapper app to guide you around on public transport. If they are interested in art and photography there’s a huge number of museums and galleries. There are often photographic exhibitions. At places like the V and A and the national Portrait Gallery, but check whats on. The wildlife photos currently at the Natural History Museum are amazing.

Thanks Gerispringer. That Wildlife Expo at the Natural History Museum sounds perfect. I'll start googling 😊

The maritime museum in Greenwich is currently showing the astronomy photograph of the year exhibition - we stumbled upon it by accident but it was really really good

If you want incredible vegetarian food check out Mildreds. It's a bit of an institution.

If you want to dine somewhere with great views check out Duck and Waffle, Sushi Samba (the City one not Covent Garden) and Aqua at the Shard. They all have lovely views and good veggie options.

Might she enjoy a street art photography workshop? There's a good one in Shoreditch.

Crystal Maze, Life size Monopoly and The Gunpowder Plot experience all look fun. Frameless art exhibition also looks good.

Depending on budget, there’s a premier inn at tower bridge and a travel inn at London oval.
For theatre, best prices in my experience have come from booking well in advance rather than on the day.

Oh yes would love a really good Vegetarian Restaurant. I'm the veggie so will definitely push Mildreds thank you.

The street photography workshop is definitely something they would both love.

I always stay in one of the Premier Inns on the South Bank. The area has a great vibe - you’re close to Borough market with all the lovely street food stalls, for example - but it’s a quick walk across one of the bridges into places like Covent Garden and the West End. You can also take the river boats (in the same way you take the tube) to get to places like Greenwich or even Kew.
