I wear the same clothes day in, day out. I WAH FT so no need to dress for an office. I don't bother brushing my hair or putting my face even half on. I just think what is the point. I pop out to the shops etc during the day. I get my nails done, the salon must think I look a right state when I turn up in the same clothes, no make up, hair scrapped back.

I would love to look glamorous. But I don't know that clothes I could wear to achieve this. I'm pear shapped and can't wear jeans (small waist, tree trunk legs) I love dresses. I could wear these with tights for the winter, but what shoes?

Is there any point in new clothes for the day when i WAH every day ?

Yes! I love dresses and find them easy and comfortable and they make me feel nice, so if throwing a dress on makes you feel good why not? I wear dresses with tights and ankle boots.
What kind of colours are you thinking of and patterns or not? And budget? Sleeve length? Hem length?

I think you can get into the habit of not bothering if you are staying in most of the time.
But if it bothers you, and it sounds like it does, start with your hair...get a good cut, if your nails and hair look nice it'll give you the push to start dressing better.

It's a boost to the confidence to look in the mirror and like what you see.

Just realised this is on chat, you need to post on Style and Beauty or get this moved. People love this kind of thread (and end up arguing about what's stylish and what isn't and what's a ridiculous price for something etc etc). 😂

Absolutely make the effort for yourself, you are reason enough.

Dresses, tights and ankle boots, trainers or sandals.

M&S jersey wide leg trousers and a shirt or long sleeve top with trainers are my go to school run uniform.

Invest in a basic skincare routine.

I WFH as well and am on camera a lot. I'm 55 and with all the filters on zoom I don't need makeup, but sometimes if the call is recorded I will put it on. If your hair is a bit longer than short you can try heatless curls, I use a leg warmer to wrap my hair round, leave it over night and it's bouncy. I have 5 the same black t shirts and same 5 white t shirts I wear with Uniqlo wide leg trousers in black and grey for Summer, so I guess it looks like I am wearing the same outfit every day! But I know I'm not. This time of year I have three jumper dresses I wear with my fake ugg slippers and opaque tights.

I also WFH almost all the time. Straightening my hair, a bit of blusher, heavy jersey wide leg trousers and fine knit / wrap jumpers are my “I want to look a bit nicer but still be comfy” go to.

Ahh, don't put yourself down like that, don't do that!

I can be guilty of this. E.g. today hair is scraped back, no makeup and I'm wearing a fleece and leggings.

However, I try and focus on the basics. Every evening I have a quick shower (if not having a bath or washing my hair.) Literally 60 seconds to wash and soap my body so I'm at least clean and fresh. I then put my pyjamas on.

Teeth clean, hair brushed (even if then being scraped back) and face cream on is non negotiable. I have a selection of pretty claw clips to put my hair up that makes me feel nicer than it just being scraped up into a bobble. But I try to wear it down most of the time.

For clothes, dresses are great if you like them as it's just one item to think about. With tights and ankle boots you can look smart for very little effort.

I tend to wear Uniqlo wide leg corduroy trousers in winter with a fitted jumper and trainers. They are comfortable but presentable. I also have a few pairs of magic trousers (one size) that just pull on easily. In summer I wear a lot of t shirts with jersey or floaty trousers. I think dresses would be even easier.

I do have one or two outfits I wear on the days I wfh so I totally get that tbh

but I tend to put video on when on calls - partly because when I didn’t other people would.

so now I turn on the video which means I then need to make a little effort ie shower, sort my hair and put my face on and be clean etc

I’ll then head out and grab a coffee or lunch - again because I can comfortably as I’ve made a little effort to look Reasonable

think the above has been better for my mental health

Thanks for all the comments. It's just so timely in the morning to straighten hair and put half a face on. It takes about 35 minutes. But I hate looking like shit. I've just popped into the local town and saw a few people I know. I look absolutely dreadful in old clothes, untrusted hair, no makeup.

What have I become
